Birthday and such..

I am not a big birthday person.  Don't ask me why... I just don't care that much.  I like presents, but I don't need them.

One thing about my birthday that I LOVE is the yearly phone call I get from my mom where she sings to me.   Makes me day every year.  It will always makes me feel like a kid again.

Kelly may have given me the best present yet.  He met someone on set and introduced me to her.  She is great!!  And I have my first friend in Georgia!  YAY!!  (I would have more friends if I didn't have a rule about being friends with co-workers).  We have hung out twice and so far I have enjoyed our time talking and hanging out.

I also started a weight loss challenge (I know it is crazy to start on my birthday, but oh well).  I am drinking Shakeology and doing a workout called Insanity.  Insanity is nothing short of insane.  They go so hard and fast and I can't keep up.  But I am doing as much as I can.  I have to be careful with all the cardio.  My heart rate gets really high when I am doing it.  I am being safe and resting more than they do on the video.  I want to be healthier but I am not trying to kill myself.

Tomorrow Kelly and I celebrate 3 years of marriage.  It has been a long 3 years with lots of good times and hard times and lots of changes.  But we are still going strong and still in love.  Like my dad told me when I was younger... something close to: "Marriage isn't easy.  There are times when it will be easier to walk away.  But it is important to stick it out.  It is worth the work."  My dad was one smart man..

I am very lucky to be raised by 2 amazing people who always worked it out; even when I know it would have been easier for them not too.  I could not ask for a better example of marriage.  I can't imagine the trials they went through... Not only did they have the normal marriage issues, they had 5 kids and then once we all moved out they had to figure out their relationship again.  I can't thank them enough for teaching me importance of marriage.

Jackson and Megan in Atlanta

Kelly and I had so much fun when Megan and Jackson where here.  I know it was for Jackson's birthday, but my birthday is right after so it felt like a birthday present for me too.  Here are some pictures from their trip.

Megan and Jackson at Waffle House.  It was Jackson's first time.

Jackson and I in Kelly's convertible driving around Atlanta.  It started out really
warm then got colder as winds from Hurricane Sandy mixed with cold air from Canada.

My first time at The Varsity Drive-In.  I had a Slaw Dog.  Yummy!!

World of Coca-Cola 4D movie
Megan, Jackson and I outside World of Coke

It looks warm, but it was FREEZING!!!  I had to buy a warm hat

Kelly and I with Atlanta behind us

Once Megan and Jackson left, I started missing my family more.  But at least Talia will be here in 12 days.  She is only coming for a short weekend, but we will have fun either way.

mmmmmm.... Bacon

There is nothing like the smell of fresh bacon in the morning.  Unless it is fresh bacon that someone else made for you.  Right now my house smells  like bacon... Unlucky for me,  I am the one who had to make it because everyone else is asleep.

Since moving to Georgia I have become pretty good at making bacon.  I used to hate it.  Grease all over your pan that splatters all over you and burns you.  And I could never make it flat.. It always curled up on me.  And the grease starts to burn so instead of the yummy smell at the beginning you have a gross burned bacon smell.  Then I learned how to make it in the oven.  I had oven cooked bacon before at other peoples houses but it was always chewy.  Bacon should be crispy, not chewy.

So how to I make perfect bacon???  Put the bacon on the cookie sheet (cover in foil so it is easy to clean up) and place in a COLD oven.  Then turn the oven on to 400° and cook until done.  It is perfect every time.

But, enough about bacon...

If you didn't see my post from last night about Jackson getting his WWE Hell In The Cell tickets, you should check it out.  It is hilarious.

Jackson turned 13 yesterday.  13?!?!  Where has the time gone?  I remember watching him enter this world and now he is a teenager??  That makes me feel old.  I remember turning 13.. In fact, I found my birthday card from my 13th birthday in a box of things my mom saved when I went to college.  It is the only card I have from my childhood (I am not sentimental with cards, I throw them away).

This is what my dad wrote.  Wasn't he sweet?
I am glad Megan and Jackson are here for Jackson's birthday weekend.  (Talia didn't come because she will be here in 3 weeks for an early birthday Twilight Marathon.)  I miss having my sister and her kids around.  I miss all my family, but I was used to seeing Megan and the kids all the time.  For 4 years we lived across or down the street from each other.  That makes 3,000 miles seem a lot longer.

Having them in the house is so natural.  Megan mentioned that to me last night.  That immediately it feels like she is at my house like a normal Friday night... She just has to fly for 6 hours instead of walking 2 minutes.  I am looking forward to the weekend and all the fun we are going to have.

Starting with the bacon I just made.  Nom, Nom, Nom.

Jackson's Birthday

Megan, Kelly and I flew Jackson (and Megan) to Atlanta for his 13th birthday.  Here is the video of him getting his WWE tickets.

 Enjoy!!

Sorry Mom

Received the following email from my mom: "l keep checking in on your blog but you seen to have given up. Remember it doesn't have to be long."
Everyday I mean to write, then I forget. I'll get better mom.

Life is pretty simple here.

Kelly has been working on a lot of movie sets getting experience as a Production Assistant.  He always comes home exhausted and happy as can be.  I am glad he is getting the experience he needs, but I can't wait until he starts making money doing it.

Only 23 more days until Talia gets here and we get to have our Twilight weekend.  I am so excited to see her and the new movie.  We are going to do the all day marathon so we will start Twilight at 11:30am and watch all the movies until the new one premiers at 10pm.  Other than that we plan on going to the World of Coca-Cola and we'll go see Aunt Suzy.

Jackson turns 13 on Friday and I am looking forward to him to get his present.  I can't believe he is going to be a teenager.  I still remember the moment he entered this world.

I've become addicted to Alaska: The Last Frontier on Discovery Channel.  I love watching it.  It is about the Kilcher Family and their life on their homestead.  I started watching it because I know some of the Kilcher's that are not on show.  I know the son of the oldest man on the show.  I have heard about the homestead for years so it is cool to see it on TV.

Other than that there is not much going on.  Seems like 50% of the people I know are pregnant.  My friend Katie just found out she is having TWINS!!!  I am so excited for her.  I am enjoying the Atlanta Autumn.  It is still sunny and upper 70s.
